The Purchase of School Furniture

Background

In February 2026, the Republic of Suriname issued a Social Bond to finance eligible social expenditures and priority social projects.

The Ministry of Finance and Planning (Employer), for the benefit of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and related services of furniture under the Priority Social Projects Program.

Scope of Supply (Lots)

Supply, delivery, and installation of furniture as specified in Section VI – Schedule of Requirements of the bidding document. Lots include:

Lot 1: Chairs L2 (32cm), L3 (35 cm) & Tables L2 (57cm), L3 (61cm)

Lot 2: Chairs L4 (38cm), L5 (41cm) & Tables L4 (65cm), L5 (69cm)

Lot 3: Chairs L7 (47 cm) & Tables L7 (76cm)

Lot 4: Teachers tables & shared tables

Lot 5: Cabinets

Suppliers must also provide assembly, installation, and warranty services as per the technical specifications.

Procurement Method

Bidding will be conducted through International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures, in accordance with internationally recognized procurement practices and Suriname’s Social Projects Procurement Framework (Feb 2026).

Eligibility

Participation is open to all firms that demonstrate (in accordance with the Bidding Document):

  • Legal eligibility (no sanctions, conflicts of interest)
  • Financial capacity
  • Technical capacity

Bid Evaluation

Evaluation will be based on the lowest evaluated responsive bid, considering:

  • Technical compliance with specifications
  • Delivery and installation schedule
  • Price and commercial terms
  • Warranty commitments
  •  

Pre-Bid Meeting and Clarifications

A pre-Bid meeting will be held on 12 August 2026 at 11:00 a.m. SRT. (link provided in the Bidding Document).

Requests for clarification must be submitted in writing to the Employer no later than 14 August 2026. Responses will be shared with all interested bidders to ensure transparency.

Submission & Opening

  • Bids must be delivered to the address below by 26 August, 11:00 a.m. local time.
  • Late bids will be rejected.
  • Bids will be opened publicly at 11:05 a.m. local time on the same day, in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend.
  • All documentation must be submitted in English.
